I know I've been terribly quiet... nothing seems to be working as far as art goes at the moment. I managed to finish off one painting, but none of the newer ones have turned out - I'm not going to post them, they're beyond salvaging. I feel bad about it because I've told people about those paintings, and now I'm letting them down.

I cant help but feel that the art I made was fresher and more interesting a few years ago. My drawing skills are much improved, and Ive learnt to show the form of shapes better and not put in unnecessary details, but Ive been forgetting to apply what I know about composition. The result is competent but boring paintings.
I'll be working on trying to improve that, as well as using some brighter colours and higher contrast in future, but for now I need to concentrate on my art school work.
On the plus side, I finally have Photoshop CS3 - a version thats fully compatible with my computer, so it wont be running in slow motion any more. I should also be getting Painter X soon. I think Im going to have to put a couple of commissions on hold until I receive it.
In my moping time, I did build a website. I'd love to be able to use Flash or CSS and put in a nice javascript gallery, but this is something to start off with.
I'm worried about labelling myself as a fantasy artist, because I feel that whenever I pin myself down to one thing I'm throwing away opportunities, but then again, the quality of the equine artists out there is also astounding, and I probably don't have the passion for painting just horses to compete with them.

A few years ago, certainly, but it's been several years since I've really been around horses regularly - I can't afford it. It annoys me because I see some terrible riders around who don't seem to understand their horses at all, and just get angry at them around without looking for the causes of the problems. Anyway, I ramble...
